These days it seems like we are all trying to do more with less, both at home and in the workplace. The result is a high level of stress which seems to be compounded by the fact that others around us seem stressed as well.
While you can’t eliminate stress, here are a few approaches you can use to decrease unwanted stress in your life.
Five Approaches to Decrease Stress in Your Life
1. Turn off car radio.
Use the time you are driving to just “be.”
2. Every time you stop at a red light, breathe.
Rather than getting frustrating because you missed the light, stop and intentionally take a few deep breaths.
3. Think of one person from yesterday for whom you are grateful.
Every morning (maybe while you are driving quietly to work) think of one person from the previous day who made a positive impact on your life. Make it a point to thank that person.
4. Anticipate one person for whom you will be grateful.
Think of an interaction you have planned and be grateful in advance for that person.
5. Eliminate optional disturbances.
Don’t read books or watch shows that are disturbing. Fill your mind only with good stuff.
