  • Back to Work After the Holidays

By Mary Cantando0 Comments

It’s often tough to get back to business after the holidays because of all our experiences, both  positive and negative. Whether you’ve had the best holiday season of your life or you’ve lived through a Chevy Chase movie, you’ve got to let go of it and get back to work. Here’s how.

5 Ways to Get Back to Work After the Holidays

1. Keep holidays from stealing into the New Year.

The first few weeks of the year set the pace for your next twelve months. Don’t spend valuable business time returning gifts and putting away decorations. Wrap these things up during the end of your holidays.

2. Catch your breath.

Block out the first day after the holidays to get caught up. Don’t schedule any meetings or calls for this day.

3. Don’t get caught up in rounds of extended family email.

While the thought of keeping up with all the family members you’ve seen over the holidays may seem appealing, you can lose hours a day on superficial online conversations that bring no real value to your life. Just because someone includes you on an email to 50 family members doesn’t mean you have to respond.

4. Create an energizing reminder of your holidays.

Maybe you’ve got a new grandchild, or the friends you visited have a heartwarming puppy. Create a screensaver that warms your heart and allows you to extend the holidays without distracting from your work.

5. Give your body a gift for the New Year.

It’s hard not to neglect your health over the holidays. We eat too much and exercise too little. The ROI on a healthy body can’t be overestimated. Throw out the junk food after the guests leave and get your body moving.

Five Beliefs That Will Take You Far in Life

I’ve often been referred to as a “Pollyanna” because I really believe that no matter what you’ve got going on in your life, you can make it truly great. I’m not saying that it is easy to make it great, but if you make that decision and are willing to work on the changes required, I believe that anyone can have a great life.

Here are five concepts that can move you in that direction.
